General

MEHQ is a white, flaked solid. MEHQ is only slightly soluble in water but has excellent solubility in organic solvents. The aromatic ring can undergo numerous reactions (alkylation, halogenation, and substitutions) without loss of the methyl ether group. Unlike most phenolic inhibitors, small concentrations of MEHQ are colorless in the presence of alkaline emulsions.
