Lotsorb UV 1 provides excellent light protection to polyurethane systems such as microcellular and integral skin foams, traditional rigid, semirigid and flexible foams, fabric coatings for synthetic leather, but also to some adhesives, sealants and elastomers.
Characterization
Lotcure UV 1 is a liquid formamidine type UV absorber which impars excellent light stability to a number of polyurethane systems during their use.
Chemical Name
Benzoic acid, 4-[[(methylphenylamino) methyleneJamino]-, ethyl ester
CAS Number 57834-33-0

Molecular weight
282.3 g/mol
Applications
Lotsorb UV 1 provides excellent light protection to polyurethane systems such as microcellular and integral skin foams, traditional rigid, semirigid and flexible foams, fabric coatings for synthetic leather, but also to some adhesives, sealants and elastomers. The product can also be used in other polymeric systems where a liquid light stabilizer isl preferred.
Features/ Benefits
The liquid UV absorber Lotsorb UV 1 is easily and homogeneously miscible with both polyester and polyether polyols and is highly soluble in many solvents. It shows good compatibility with isocyanates as well as with other additives used in polyurethane systems. It has a very strong absorption especially in between 300 and 330nm of theUV-spectrum where UV radiation is in particular degradative for polyurethane systems. It can be used alone but due to its special absorption characteristics it is especially well suited to be used in combination with other possibly needed components of a stabilizer system such as hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), other UV-absorbers, phenolic antioxidants, phosphites and benzofuranones.
Guidelines for use
It is recommended to be used in combinations with other stabilizing additives such as other UV-absorbers, hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), phenolic antioxidants and costabilizers (Phosphites), and benzofuranones.

Storage Information
Owing to chemical structure LOTSORB UV 1 is somewhat sensitive to hydrolysis and light. The product, therefore, should be stored in tightly sealed containers and protected from light in a cool and dry ventilated environment. Upon longer storage time crystallization could occur. Warming up in a heat chamber (Tmax 60°C) is recommended.
Handling & Safety
In accordance with good industrial practice, handle with care and avoid unnecessary
personal contact. Avoid continuous or repetitive breathing of vapour. Use only with adequate ventilation.
For more detailed information please refer to the material safety data sheet.
